BornPrettyStore water decals

Hi everyone! Weather was meant to get worse over here, and I started having some tip wraps on my Catherine Arley 801. So my idea was to hide the tip wrap by using some full nails water decals from BornPrettyStore. These come from the D190 set and they have this pretty optical pattern.

Using them was quite easy. Just put them into a bowl of water, wait 30 seconds, and they will lift from their paper. At that point you just place them on your nails and you’re done. Almost! I found out that cuticles’ cleaning was tricky. Nail polish remover will actually dissolve the black pattern, but it stains so bad. What I did was using a q-tip for the big cleaning, and then finished it up with a brush dipped into acetone.

Il meteo dava un peggioramento del tempo e in più lo smalto di venerdì stava iniziando a consumarsi sulle punte quindi ho avuto l’idea di coprirlo con dei trasferelli (decalcomanie a esser pignoli) ad acqua. Questi arrivano da BornPrettyStore e sono il set D190, con questi disegni optical che adoro.

Usarli è semplicissimo. Si mettono a bagno per 30 secondi e loro si staccano dalla carta di base. A quel punto basta spiaccicarli (termine altamente tecnico) sulle unghie e voilà, fatto. Quasi. Devo dire che la pulizia cuticole mi è stata particolarmente antipatica. Il solvente scioglie il nero di questi decals ma macchiano molto. Io ho usato un cotton-fioc imbevuto di solvente per togliere il grosso dell’eccedenza, e poi ho rifinito con un pennellino, sempre imbevuto di solvente.

Questo è il risultato che trovo carinissimo!

Beware of top coats! You shouldn’t use a fast drying one because it will smudge the pattern, no matter how long you wait. I won’t show you the whole fail but believe me. Below you can see D-191 set. On my pinkie I used Catrice Quick Dry & High Shine top coat and it smudged badly. The other 3 nails in the photo have no top coat at all. Because I had already damaged a nail I went on and tested 3 different top coats. Two of them were fast drying one, while the last one is a standard top coat (NYC Classy Glassy that I also used above). The nail I used a standard top coat instead of a fast drying one is the only one that didn’t smudge.

Other than that I loved this pattern even more than the previous one. I kept the second set (i.e. the half for the other hand) to use it for accent nails :)

Occhio al top coat! Non dovete usarne uno ad asciugatura rapida perchè vi macchierà l’immagine, non importa quanto aspettiate. Non vi faccio vedere il macello finale che ho combinato, fidatevi :D Sotto potete vedere il set D-191, sul mignolo avevo usato il top coat Catrice Quick Dry & Hight Shinee e mi ha stinto tutto :( Le altre unghie sono a nudo. Dato che ormai la nail art era rovinata ho voluto testare altri 3 top coat, di cui solo uno ad asciugatura standard (il NYC Classy Glassy che ho anche usato sopra). Solo sull’unghia con quest’ultimo l’immagine è rimasta al suo posto senza macchiare in giro.

A parte questo piccolo intoppo l’immagine sotto mi piace anche più di quella sopra! Ho tenuto da parte la seconda metà (quella che andava sull’altra mano) per farci delle accent :)

All in all I prefer stamping over water decals but each technique has pros and cons. First of all not everyone likes stamping or stamps at all. I also found decals quicker to use, although longer to clean up. Obviously they are a one time use only, but they are cheap!

I think that was it for now. Weather indeed changed after my photos and it’s now raining cats and dogs. *sighs*

Personalmente ammetto che preferisco stampare piuttosto che usare i decals ma mi rendo conto che entrambe le tecniche hanno i loro pro e contro. Per prima cosa a non tutti piace stampare o lo fanno. Poi ho trovato i decals più veloci da usare ma più lunghi da pulire. E ovviamente sono monouso, però costano poco!
